Ho West Member of Parliament (MP), Emmanuel Kwasi Bedzrah, has donated two ambulances, fully equipped, to the Ghana National Ambulance Service (NAS) to strengthen emergency healthcare delivery and improve response times across the constituency.
The donation is expected to improve access to life-saving emergency medical services, particularly for residents in rural communities who often face challenges accessing timely healthcare during emergencies.
The two ambulances were presented to the Ghana National Ambulance Service at Tsito in the Volta Region as part of efforts by the Ho West MP to address gaps in emergency healthcare delivery after two ambulances previously assigned to the constituency became non-functional.

Presenting the vehicles, Mr Bedzrah said the donation was driven by the urgent need to restore reliable emergency ambulance services in Ho West and ensure that residents could access timely medical attention.
“I realised that the two ambulances allocated to Ho West had all broken down, and I could not sit unconcerned while my people struggled to access emergency healthcare. These ambulances are to serve every community in Ho West,” he said.
Mr Bedzrah stressed the need for proper maintenance of the ambulances to ensure they remain operational and serve residents for many years.
“I have done my part. It is now left with the Ambulance Service to maintain them. I also believe the District Chief Executive will support efforts to ensure these ambulances remain in active service for the people,” he stated.
Mr Bedzrah also announced additional interventions aimed at improving healthcare delivery and strengthening health facilities in the Ho West Constituency.
He disclosed plans to donate laptop computers to all health facilities in the district to support the digitisation of patient records and improve records management.
According to the MP, the decision followed a visit to the Tsito Health Centre, where he identified the need to improve the management of medical records.
He further disclosed that renovation works on the Tsibu Health Facility had been awarded.
Mr Bedzrah added that three newly constructed Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compounds would be commissioned next month as part of efforts to expand access to primary healthcare in the constituency.
Receiving the two ambulances on behalf of the National Ambulance Service, the Volta Regional Director of the Service, George Kojo Owusu, described the donation as timely and significant.
“These two ambulances are more than vehicles; they are mobile emergency rooms equipped with trained Emergency Medical Technicians and life-saving equipment that will bring healthcare closer to the people of Ho West,” he said.
Mr Owusu noted that the donation came at a critical time when the National Ambulance Service’s fleet was under pressure due to increasing demand for emergency medical services across the country.
“Your gesture comes at a critical time. These ambulances will improve response times, expand emergency coverage and save lives by ensuring the timely transfer of accident victims, pregnant women and patients with chronic diseases to appropriate health facilities,” he stated.
Mr Owusu assured the MP and residents of Ho West that the National Ambulance Service would immediately deploy the ambulances with trained personnel and ensure that the vehicles were properly maintained.
He also appealed to residents to protect the ambulances and use Ghana’s national emergency number, 112, responsibly whenever emergency medical assistance is required.
The donation of the two ambulances is expected to significantly strengthen emergency healthcare delivery in Ho West, improve ambulance response times and increase access to life-saving medical services for residents across the constituency, particularly those living in rural communities.
