National Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Henry Nana Boakye, has called for bold, fearless and experienced leadership to steer the party into the 2028 general election and help it return to power.
According to him, the current political environment requires party leaders who are prepared to confront challenges without fear and provide strong direction for the NPP.
“If you want to do politics in Ghana now, then you must be bold and fearless,” he said.

Speaking to the media in Sunyani on Wednesday, Mr Boakye, popularly known as Nana B, said the NPP remained determined to withstand what he described as intimidation by the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC).
“We are an elephant family, and we are bold and fearless,” he stated, stressing the party’s readiness to contest the 2028 election with the aim of regaining political power.
Nana B is currently campaigning to become the NPP’s First National Chairman and is touring the Bono, Bono East and Ahafo regions to engage delegates ahead of the party’s National Executive Elections scheduled for October 2026.
He accused the John Dramani Mahama-led NDC government of undermining democratic principles and said the situation made strong leadership within the NPP necessary.
He argued that the party needed leaders capable of confronting the governing party directly and mobilising the NPP’s grassroots base ahead of the 2028 polls.
“That is why we need bold and fearless leadership to face the NDC squarely in the 2028 electioneering,” he said.
Mr Boakye also accused the NDC government of failing the country, claiming that many young Ghanaians had become disappointed with its performance.
He attributed the NPP’s defeat in the 2024 general election largely to voter apathy, rather than a lack of support for the party.
Making a case for his candidacy, Nana B pointed to his 26 years of experience in grassroots politics and national service within the NPP.
He noted that his political journey included serving as a polling agent in 2000 and later becoming the party’s National Youth Organiser.
He said the experience had given him an understanding of the party’s grassroots structures and positioned him to serve effectively as First National Chairman.
Nana B therefore urged NPP delegates to carefully assess the candidates and make informed choices when they vote in October.
He maintained that his election would strengthen the party’s organisational structures and improve its chances of securing victory in the 2028 general election.
