The National Youth Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Salam Mustapha, has reaffirmed the party’s commitment to creating sustainable and well-paying job opportunities for the youth.
The NPP, he said, has consistently championed the youth agenda, citing the National Youth Employment Programme, which is now the Youth Employment Agency (YEA), as an example .
Mustapha acknowledged that despite government initiatives, unemployment remains a challenge due to the growing number of job seekers.
He noted, however, that the current government has created around 2 million jobs, the highest number in the country’s history.
The NPP’s job creation strategy focuses on sustainable and decent employment opportunities.
In contrast, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has proposed a comprehensive employment and jobs creation strategy, aiming to create 1.7 million jobs.
Salaam Mustapha outlined the key differences between NPP and NDC job creation strategies:
– General Approach: NPP focuses on private sector-led job growth, while NDC emphasizes public sector job creation.
– Industrialization: NPP continues the One District, One Factory (1D1F) initiative, while NDC proposes an accelerated plan for industrialization .
– Youth Employment: NPP emphasizes youth entrepreneurship and innovation hubs, while NDC focuses on skills training in traditional sectors .
– Technology and Innovation: NPP prioritizes technology-driven job creation, while NDC’s plan lacks a strong focus on technological innovation.
