Bright Botchway, National Deputy Director of the Traders and Artisans Network-NDC, has denounced the flat tax policy put forward by NPP Flagbearer Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, labelling it a scam.
During a visit to flood-affected traders and artisans in Gomoa Mampong, alongside Desmond Paitoo, Member of Parliament for Gomoa East, Botchway challenged Vice President Bawumia on his pledge to repeal the e-levy.
Botchway stressed the importance of sincerity from Dr. Bawumia in honouring his commitments.
“If Bawumia truly intends to cancel the e-levy, Ghanaian entrepreneurs will lose trust in him if he continues to mislead them,” Botchway asserted. He called on Bawumia to take immediate action to cancel the e-levy, emphasizing that tangible steps are crucial to demonstrate genuine support for his campaign promises.
Botchway stressed the widespread sentiment among Ghanaians of political pledges lacking concrete follow-through.
He challenged the Vice president to align his promises with actionable measures that directly benefit the populace and stressed that upholding commitments is crucial for maintaining trust and garnering support from voters, particularly within the business community.
