The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has announced that a new tax, called Value Income Tax (VIT), will be implemented for ride-hailing vehicles such as Bolt, Uber and Yango starting from 1 January 2024.
However, the percentage of income that ride-hailing services need to pay as VIT to the GRA is yet to be disclosed.
The GRA stated on Wednesday (20 December), advising all ride-hailing vehicle owners to register their vehicles at any GRA office to facilitate the payment process.
According to GRA, commercial vehicle owners who earn income from the operation of a commercial vehicle are required to pay income tax every quarter as per Section 22 of Regulations 2016, LI 2244.
The statement further added that all ride-hailing companies must comply with these requirements from 1 January 2024.
