The Climate Communications and Local Governance-Africa (CCLG-Africa) has praised the government for integrating the green transition within the Energy Ministry, calling it a significant step towards addressing climate change and promoting environmental sustainability.
CCLG-Africa commended the government’s efforts but emphasized the need for a more integrated approach to effectively tackle the pressing challenges of climate change.

In a statement released on Monday, the organization advocated for the establishment of a dedicated ministry combining climate change, environmental protection, and green transition initiatives.
“A unified ministry would ensure better coordination among government departments, agencies, and stakeholders, enabling a cohesive response to interconnected challenges,” the statement read.
CCLG-Africa highlighted three key advantages such an integrated approach including leveraging resources efficiently, streamlining funding and allocation; streamlining decision-making by reducing bureaucratic barriers, and driving meaningful progress toward achieving tangible results in emissions reduction, sustainable development, and environmental conservation
The organization urged the government to take bold and decisive steps in designing robust programs and activities that address environmental change, green transition, and environmental sustainability comprehensively.
“We believe that by working together, we can create a future where economic growth, social justice, and environmental protection thrive in harmony,” the statement said.
The group reiterated its readiness to collaborate with the government and other stakeholders in fostering a greener and more sustainable future for Ghana and expressed its willingness to contribute to efforts that prioritize the well-being of the planet and its people.
