Dr. Edward Kofi Omane Boamah, the Minister of Defence-designate, is scheduled to appear before Parliament’s Appointments Committee today, Tuesday, January 28, 2025, for his vetting.
He will be joined by four other ministerial nominees as part of the day’s proceedings.
The vetting exercise will begin at 9:00 AM with Dr. Omane Boamah, who has been nominated for the position of Minister of Defence. At 11:00 AM, Emmanuel Kwadwo Agyekum, a Member of Parliament and nominee for Minister of State in Charge of Special Initiatives, will face the committee.
The afternoon session will commence at 1:00 PM with the vetting of Adjei Kenneth Gilbert, the nominee for Minister of Works, Housing, and Water Resources. Following this, at 3:00 PM, Linda Obenewaa Akweley Ocloo, MP and nominee for Greater Accra Regional Minister, will appear before the committee.
The day’s proceedings will conclude at 5:00 PM with the vetting of Charity Gardiner, the nominee for Ahafo Regional Minister.
These appointments represent a significant step in the President’s efforts to strengthen his government team.
The nominees’ confirmation will be subject to approval by the Appointments Committee and subsequent ratification by the full Parliament.
