The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has officially declared former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta a fugitive wanted for alleged criminal conduct.

The OSP announced on Wednesday, February 12 during a press conference in Accra that Ofori-Atta is being sought for his involvement in the misappropriation of funds related to several high-profile cases, including the controversial SML deal and the National Cathedral project.

According to the OSP, Ofori-Atta has fled the country, prompting the office to issue an alert.

The Special Prosecutor, Kissi Agyebeng, warned the former minister to voluntarily return to Ghana to face trial or risk being forcibly extradited with the assistance of Interpol.

The announcement comes a day after national security operatives conducted a raid on Ofori-Atta’s residence.

The OSP has, however, distanced itself from the operation, denying involvement in the incident.
