A recent special poll conducted in the Greater Accra Region by Global InfoAnalytics has revealed a sharp nationwide decline in the ruling New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) party affiliation with mass defection.
The poll, led by Mussa Dankwah, shows that NPP’s party affiliation has dropped from 30% in November 2024 to 18% in the latest survey.
On the other hand, the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has seen a significant surge, moving from 41% to 59% within the same period.
Defection
According to the data, a considerable number of NPP sympathizers and voters—who typically refrain from disclosing their political allegiance—have shifted directly to the NDC.
The poll indicates that these voters did not transition into floating voters or undecided respondents but rather switched entirely to the NDC.
This trend poses a major challenge for the NPP and suggests that winning back lost supporters may not be easy in the short term.
The findings highlight growing concerns within the opposition as it seeks to regain public trust and electoral support.
Global InfoAnalytics’ latest poll reinforces indications of changing political dynamics in Ghana, with implications for the NPP’s electoral strategy and the NDC’s growing dominance in party affiliations.
