Staff of the National Service Authority (NSA) have raised their voices against growing attempts by political party affiliates to meddle in the Authority’s operations, particularly in recruitment and internal transfers.
They reaffirmed their commitment to preserving the NSA’s independence and ensuring fairness in its processes.
The staff, in a press release copied to the Acting Director-General of the NSA and the General Secretary of the Public Services Workers’ Union (PSWU), expressed unwavering dedication to upholding democratic values and institutional integrity.
“We stand united in rejecting any undue political influence in the NSA’s operations. Such interference erodes public trust and weakens the foundation of our democracy,” the statement declared.
The release stressed that the NSA operates under strict legal frameworks, including the National Service Authority Act, 2024 (Act 1119), the Public Services Commission Act, 1994 (Act 482), and Article 195 of the 1992 Constitution.
Recruitment and transfers
“Our recruitment and transfer processes follow approved guidelines—they are not subject to partisan demands,” stressed the Chairman of the NSA Staff, Ayirebi Adubofour, who signed the release.
Appealing for calm, the staff urged youth in the Western Region to support the Authority’s lawful operations without pressure or intimidation and allow management to work freely, ensuring transparency and fairness for all.
The staff also called on NSA leadership to remain resolute against external pressures, safeguarding the institution’s credibility.
“We trust management to uphold the NSA’s principles and protect its reputation,” the statement affirmed.
In a final appeal, the staff urged the government to shield the NSA and other public institutions from political interference, reinforcing their commitment to a fair and impartial national service system stressing, “Together, we will defend the NSA’s integrity and ensure it remains a beacon of meritocracy and service to the nation.”
