Arsenal ruthlessly extinguished Liverpool’s hopes of sealing the Premier League title this weekend by thrashing 10-man Ipswich Town at Portman Road in a dominant display.
Fresh off their Champions League triumph over Real Madrid, Mikel Arteta’s men looked unstoppable once again, tearing through a struggling Ipswich side teetering on the brink of relegation.
The Gunners took charge early, opening the scoring in the 14th minute when Bukayo Saka’s cross was subtly redirected by Martin Ødegaard and finished off by Leandro Trossard. Moments later, more incisive wing play from Saka led to Mikel Merino’s slick flick across the box, setting up Gabriel Martinelli for a simple tap-in.
Ipswich’s slim hopes were crushed further when Leif Davis was sent off in the 32nd minute for a reckless challenge on Saka, reducing the hosts to 10 men and exposing them to even more punishment.
Trossard grabbed his second in the 69th minute after a smartly executed short corner, firing clinically into the net. Substitute Ethan Nwaneri capped the rout with a deflected strike two minutes before the final whistle.
Arsenal could have inflicted further misery, with missed chances falling to Merino and Saka, but the damage was already done. T
his defeat marked Ipswich’s seventh home loss of 2025, pushing them even closer to the drop while denying Liverpool the chance to celebrate glory—at least for now.
