The Parliamentary Select Committee on Health has commenced a four-day tour of Regional and Teaching Hospitals across the country to evaluate the quality of healthcare infrastructure and service delivery nationwide.

The exercise, which runs from Tuesday, April 22 to Friday, April 25, 2025, involves Committee Members working in three separate teams to visit key health facilities in all parts of the country.

In a statement from Parliament, the tour was described as a vital part of the Committee’s oversight responsibilities to ensure accountability and efficiency within Ghana’s healthcare system.

Hospital Visits by Teams

  • Team One will visit Bolgatanga Regional Hospital, Nalerigu Regional Hospital, Tamale Teaching Hospital, Tamale Regional Hospital, and Wa Regional Hospital.
  • Team Two is scheduled to assess Damongo Regional Hospital, Techiman Regional Hospital, Sunyani Regional Hospital, and Goaso Regional Hospital.
  • Team Three will tour Kumasi Regional Hospital, Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, Koforidua Regional Hospital, Ho Regional Hospital, 37 Military Hospital, and the Greater Accra Regional Hospital.

Throughout the tour, the MPs will engage directly with healthcare providers, administrators, and patients to better understand operational challenges and evaluate the general state of facilities.

The initiative is expected to culminate in a detailed report outlining the Committee’s observations, which will inform future parliamentary debates and policy reforms aimed at strengthening the healthcare sector.

The Health Committee continues to play a pivotal role in safeguarding the health rights of Ghanaians by overseeing the implementation of national health policies and supporting efforts to build a responsive and equitable health system.
