Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin has petitioned the Inspector-General (IGP) of Police for investigation and disciplinary action against a police officer alleged to have assaulted him.
In a formal letter addressed to the IGP, he identified the officer in question as Constable Forson, described as a tall, fair, and heavily built man stationed at the entrance of Parliament House to provide security during the protest.
“Constable Forson assaulted me at the entrance of Parliament House during the demonstration,” he wrote, emphasizing that the incident occurred in full view of other security personnel and members of the public.
Hon. Afenyo-Markin, also the Member of Parliament for Effutu, noted that the incident has been misrepresented in some quarters, prompting him to issue a public statement to clarify the events.
He called on the Inspector-General of Police to act swiftly stating, “I hereby formally petition your office to investigate and take appropriate disciplinary action against Constable Forson.”
