The Accra Regional Police Command has assured political parties, residents, and eligible voters of its full readiness to provide maximum security for the upcoming Parliamentary re-run election in the Ayawaso East Constituency, scheduled for Tuesday, March 3, 2026.

In a press statement issued on Monday, March 2, the Command outlined its operational strategy, confirming the deployment of sufficient personnel to all polling stations and strategic locations to ensure the process is conducted in a peaceful, transparent, and orderly manner.

Headed to the polls for the crucial by-election, voters in the constituency will witness a heavy presence of security personnel. According to the Police, this visibility is intended to deter trouble-makers and ensure that law-abiding citizens can cast their ballots without fear.

“The Command has deployed adequate Police personnel across all designated polling stations and key locations to ensure a peaceful, transparent, and orderly electoral process,” the statement signed by Superintendent Juliana Obeng, Head of Public Affairs for the Accra Region, confirmed.

She further stated that apart from the static deployment at polling stations, the Police would maintain visible patrols throughout the period. “We will maintain a visible presence and conduct patrols before, during, and after the election to prevent any acts that may disrupt public peace and security,” she added.

The Police Command adopted a firm tone regarding the conduct of political activists and the general public, warning against any acts that could compromise the integrity of the vote.

“The Accra Regional Police Command cautions the public against engaging in acts of violence, intimidation, spreading misinformation, or any conduct that may undermine the integrity of the electoral process,” the statement warned.

The Command emphasized that the long arm of the law would catch up with anyone who foments trouble. It stressed that persons found to have violated the law would be “dealt with in accordance with Ghanaian law,” signaling a zero-tolerance approach to electoral misconduct.

As the constituency prepares to decide its representative in Parliament, the Police have called on all stakeholders to collaborate for a successful exercise. The re-run election follows developments that necessitated a fresh vote in the constituency.

The Accra Regional Police Command urged all eligible voters to exercise their franchise peacefully. Citizens are also being encouraged to act as the first line of defense by reporting any suspicious activities to the security agencies stationed in the area.

The Police appeal for calm and cooperation comes as residents prepare to head to the polls on Tuesday, with the assurance that their safety is guaranteed.
