Lawyers for Joana Quaye have dismissed claims by businessman Richard Nii Armah Quaye, suggesting he was financially well-established before his marriage, describing such assertions as misleading and inconsistent with court records.

The rebuttal follows comments made by Mr. Quaye during a widely circulated interview on the “Delay Show” hosted by Deloris Frimpong Manso.

In a statement issued by Dame & Partners and signed by Godfred Yeboah Dame, counsel for Joana Quaye, the legal team insisted that claims of substantial wealth before the marriage are not supported by documented evidence presented in court.

They pointed to records from proceedings at the High Court in Accra, which, according to them, indicate that the couple married in 2010 shortly after Mr. Quaye returned from a brief stay in the United Kingdom, at a time he allegedly did not possess the assets he now claims.

Central to the dispute is the formation of Quick Credit & Investment Micro-Credit Company Limited in 2011, which the lawyers say was jointly established by both parties during the marriage.

They maintain that both Richard and Joana Quaye were original shareholders, and that the growth of the business, and subsequent acquisition of properties and establishment of other ventures, occurred during the course of the marriage.

The statement further alleges that Joana Quaye’s shares in the company were later transferred without her knowledge or consent, an issue currently before the courts.

The legal team also raised concerns about the timing of Mr. Quaye’s public remarks, noting that the matter is still pending before the Court of Appeal.

They argued that discussing contested issues in the media could prejudice the case and undermine the integrity of the judicial process.

Joana Quaye, through her lawyers, has opted not to engage in further public exchanges, stating her intention to rely on the courts to resolve the dispute.

Her legal team expressed confidence that the judicial process will ensure a fair determination of the issues, including the division of assets acquired during the marriage.
