NDC opens nominations for branch elections starting May 2

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has officially announced the opening of nominations for its nationwide branch elections, scheduled to run from May 2 to May 16, 2026.

According to a press release signed by the Deputy General Secretary in charge of Finance and Administration, Barbara Serwaah Asamoah, the exercise will take place across all 40,647 branches in the 276 constituencies of Ghana.

This initiative forms a critical component of the party’s internal democratic processes and grassroots reorganization efforts.

The party noted that nomination forms will be available online starting May 2 at forms.ghanandc.com. Each nomination form will be priced at GH¢20.00.

Members can also pay their dues conveniently using the short code 92025# or by visiting the official party portal.

Following the nomination phase, the actual branch elections are slated to take place between May 20 and June 30, 2026.

In accordance with guidelines approved by the National Executive Committee, the party has issued strict resignation deadlines for public officials intending to contest in constituency, regional, and national elections.

Ministers and Deputy Ministers of State must resign on or before April 30, 2026. Chief Executive Officers, Managing Directors, and their deputies are required to step down by May 14, 2026.

Meanwhile, Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives have until June 7, 2026, to vacate their positions.

The party has urged all members to participate actively and uphold discipline throughout the process.
