Minority Leader and Effutu MP, Alexander Kwamena Afenyo-Markin, has launched a sharp attack on the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), accusing the party of misleading Ghanaians with promises it has failed to fulfil since returning to power.
Addressing New Patriotic Party (NPP) supporters during a party gathering in Sefwi-Wiawso in the Western North Region, Mr. Afenyo-Markin questioned the government’s performance and challenged supporters to assess whether the NDC had lived up to its campaign commitments.
“We should ask ourselves, is the NDC delivering on its promises?” he asked.

The Minority Leader did not mince words as he criticised the governing party, describing it as a political organization that says one thing while in opposition but pursues a different agenda once entrusted with power.
“The NDC is a complete scam. They are 419 people. They come to you and lie to you, and when you give them power, they do nothing,” he charged.
His remarks come amid ongoing political debates over the performance of the administration led by President John Dramani Mahama, with both the NPP and NDC seeking to strengthen their political positions ahead of future elections.
Despite his criticism of the government, Mr. Afenyo-Markin stressed that the NPP’s chances of returning to power would depend largely on its ability to remain united and focused.
According to him, internal divisions within the opposition party could undermine efforts to present a strong alternative government to the Ghanaian electorate.
“But they can only achieve that if we ourselves are divided,” he said, referring to the NDC’s political fortunes.
Speaking on behalf of the party’s leadership, parliamentary caucus, and elders, he appealed to party members across the Western North Region to put aside their differences and work together towards a common goal.
“Today, in Sefwi-Wiawso, I speak to the entire region on behalf of the flagbearer, on behalf of Parliament, on behalf of all the elders of the party, and plead with you to unite,” he urged.
The Minority Leader emphasized that party cohesion, discipline, and grassroots mobilisation would be critical if the NPP is to rebuild after its electoral setback and position itself effectively for future national contests.
