The Private Newspapers and Online News Publishers Association of Ghana (PRINPAG) has inaugurated a new set of leaders with a bold commitment to professionalism, integrity, and the welfare of its members.

In his maiden address on Thursday, newly sworn-in PRINPAG President, Mr. David Sitsofe Tamakloe, outlined a reform agenda anchored on four pillars: empowerment, advertising growth, visibility, and integrity. He vowed to restore the visibility, credibility, and sustainability of private print and online media.

“Advertising is not charity; it is a value exchange,” he declared, promising to reposition PRINPAG members as respected partners in the media ecosystem. He announced plans to invest in digital platforms, reject token “Soli” handouts, and inspire members to embrace professionalism over sensationalism.

Mr. Tamakloe also unveiled two major welfare initiatives—the PRINPAG Foundation to support members and families in need, and a personal “Path to Reading” campaign to revive a culture of reading in Ghana.

Deputy Minister for Government Communication, Hon. Shamima Muslim, urged the leadership to place professionalism at the heart of their work, describing it as vital to protecting Ghana’s democracy.

She stressed that the media’s role goes beyond pointing out faults, calling for “constructive criticism that pushes and advances our country’s development.”

PRINPAG’s Executive Secretary, Mr. Jeorge Wilson Kingsley, said the transition of leadership was more than ceremonial. He described it as proof of the association’s democratic spirit, resilience, and unity, while reminding members that “leadership cannot thrive in isolation.”

He reaffirmed the association’s mission to protect press freedom, uphold standards, and promote the welfare of its members.

President of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA), Mr. Albert Kwabena Dwumfour, pledged his outfit’s support and encouraged the new leaders to prioritise the welfare of journalists.

The new PRINPAG executive council includes Mr. Michael Antwi (Vice President), Mr. Prince Kaunda (Organising Secretary), Mr. Opare Djan (Public Relations and External Affairs Officer), and Naana Aklerh Kubi I (Financial Secretary and Treasurer).
