The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Mpohor, Sophia Aubynn, has assured residents of her commitment to implement President John Dramani Mahama’s development vision at the local level, with a strong focus on youth employment and infrastructure.

Speaking during an interview after appearing before Parliament’s Local Government and Rural Development Committee on Thursday, Ms. Aubynn said her mandate is to translate the government’s national agenda into practical initiatives for her district.

“Our President, John Dramani Mahama vision is my vision. I have to implement everything that the government is pursuing,” she stated.

She highlighted the youth apprenticeship programme as one of the key interventions underway, explaining that 50 young people have already been enrolled, with 10 master craftsmen engaged to train them in various trades.

“This programme is meant to give opportunities to the needy. The government is supporting both the apprentices and the masters, including transportation and other logistics,” she said.

The DCE noted that institutions such as the Police Service and Fire Service were also collaborating with the district to provide training opportunities for young people, while groups like Blue Water Guards were working to protect water bodies in the area.

Turning to infrastructure, Ms. Aubynn identified the poor road network in Mpohor as a major challenge but assured residents that the government is addressing the situation.

“In Mpohor, the road problem is a big one. But I know this issue is at the heart of our President, and very soon the challenges will be resolved,” she said.

She explained that a road project previously awarded under the previous administration stalled due to contractual issues, but has now been reassigned and would resume shortly.

“The contract for the road was not properly executed before, but the government has re-awarded it, and work will soon continue,” she disclosed.

Ms. Aubynn pledged to work closely with the Member of Parliament and all stakeholders to ensure that government programmes such as skills training, infrastructure, and community development projects are fully implemented for the benefit of the people.

“As a district, my vision is to ensure all government initiatives are pursued and that our communities benefit from them,” she emphasized.
