Inter Miami star Lionel Messi is on the verge of extending his stay in Major League Soccer (MLS), with negotiations over a new contract reaching advanced stages.
Football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reported on Friday that while the deal is not finalized, both parties are close to an agreement. “Not a done deal yet as of today with a few points to clarify and MLS approval to all conditions to follow,” Romano stated.
Talks have accelerated in recent weeks, raising optimism that the Argentine World Cup winner will commit his future to the Miami-based club. Messi, who joined Inter Miami in 2023, has been instrumental in boosting the club’s global profile and on-field competitiveness.
The potential contract extension would mark another significant milestone in MLS history, keeping one of football’s greatest players in the league as it continues to grow in popularity worldwide.
