The World College of Mayors (WCM) has entered into a strategic partnership with the Government of Brazil to advance preparations for the upcoming International Mayors’ Conference scheduled for November 22–23, 2025, in Brazil.

The agreement was sealed during a high-level meeting at the Brazilian Embassy in Accra between the WCM delegation, led by Chief Operating Officer Dr. Manohar Roy, and Brazil’s Ambassador to Ghana, Her Excellency Ms. Mariana Madeira.

The collaboration, officials say, will ensure the conference becomes a premier platform for city leaders worldwide to deliberate on pressing urban challenges such as sustainable development, smart city innovation, and cross-cultural economic partnerships.

Alhassan Abdallah Musah, Secretary-General of WCM, described the partnership as a milestone for global urban governance.

“Today’s meeting marks a pivotal step in our mission to foster actionable dialogue. Our collaboration with the Brazilian Embassy ensures that this conference will be more than just a talk shop; it will be a launchpad for tangible partnerships and solutions that will resonate in cities from Ghana to Brazil and beyond,” he said.

Dr. Manohar Roy, the WCM COO, also praised Brazil’s role in the collaboration, emphasizing the significance of the host country.

“We are honoured to have the full support of Ambassador Madeira and the Brazilian government. Brazil’s dynamic urban landscape provides the perfect backdrop for our discussions. This partnership is fundamental to delivering an event of the highest caliber that will shape the future of urban living,” Dr. Roy stated.

Ambassador Madeira reaffirmed her country’s commitment to hosting the landmark event.
“Brazil is proud to host this critical conversation among the world’s city leaders. We believe in the power of shared knowledge and are dedicated to facilitating a conference that will strengthen bilateral ties and forge a path toward more resilient and inclusive cities globally,” she said.

From Ghana’s perspective, Honourable Abdul Ganiyu Ibrahim noted that the partnership would deliver direct benefits for local communities.
“This partnership guarantees that our local leaders will have a powerful voice at the table. The insights and connections gained from this event will be instrumental in driving local development projects and smart city initiatives right here in Ghana,” he stressed.

The International Mayors’ Conference is expected to draw hundreds of delegates, positioning itself as a flagship event on the international urban development calendar.
