President John Dramani Mahama commenced a two-day working visit to the Northern Region on Saturday, April 18, 2026, as part of his ongoing #ResettingGhana initiative.
The Mahama Northern Region tour—the second in the nationwide series following an earlier engagement in the Bono Region—aims to deepen the government’s interaction with citizens and assess the impact of key policy interventions.
During the Mahama Northern Region tour, the President will engage directly with residents through their traditional leaders, offering a platform for feedback on government policies, ongoing development projects, and pressing local concerns requiring urgent attention.

Accompanied by ministers of state and heads of key institutions, President Mahama is also expected to cut the sod for the construction of 24-hour markets, a flagship initiative designed to boost economic activity and create jobs. He will further inspect the progress of selected infrastructure and development projects across the region.
The Mahama Northern Region tour will culminate on Sunday with a major town hall meeting at the University of Development Studies (UDS) in Tamale. The forum is expected to provide a transparent platform for government officials to account for their stewardship over the past year.
At the event, ministers and appointees will outline key achievements, respond to public concerns, and explain the impact of major interventions under the Resetting Ghana agenda.
The tour forms part of broader efforts by the Mahama administration to promote accountability, citizen engagement, and inclusive governance.
