Morocco came from behind twice to edge past a fearless Haiti side 4-2 in a pulsating Group C clash of the 2026 World Cup.

The Atlas Lions secured second place in the group with the victory, but Haiti made them work every step of the way.

Les Grenadiers stunned the stadium just ten minutes in. Jean-Kevin Duverne cut the ball back, and Lenny Joseph produced an audacious back-heel flick that deflected off Morocco keeper Yassine Bounou and rolled in. It was Haiti’s first World Cup goal in 52 years – and the celebrations were wild.

The goal jolted Morocco into action. Johny Placide made several sharp saves to keep the Atlas Lions at bay, but Achraf Hakimi eventually bundled the ball over the line after Placide parried Bilal El Khannouss’s shot.

Haiti refused to fold. Wilson Isidor unleashed a stunning strike from distance that flew into the top corner – a goal worthy of any stage.

But Morocco hit back again before the break. Hakimi turned provider, cutting the ball back for Ismael Saibari to side-foot home and make it 2-2 at halftime.

After the restart, Morocco took control. They pressed and probed until Soufiane Rahimi fired home from a deflected corner with just over ten minutes remaining. Youngster Gessime Yassine added a fourth in stoppage time to seal the win.

Haiti bow out with heads held high after their first World Cup appearance in over five decades. They played with heart, scored memorable goals, and earned respect.

For Morocco, the journey continues. They now travel to Monterrey to face the winner of Group F on 29 June.
