Forty-seven of the 50 aspirants who picked up nomination forms to contest the New Patriotic Party (NPP) 2026 National Officers Elections have completed the filing process, with three aspirants failing to make the final list.
The NPP elections filing process officially ended at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 29, 2026, according to the party’s National Officers Elections Committee (NOEC).
Among the three aspirants who did not complete the process is former Ashanti Regional Chairman Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, who had expressed interest in contesting the NPP National Chairperson position.

The other two are Evans Kodom, who intended to contest the National Communications Director position, and Perpetual Ekua Lomokie Akwada, who picked up nomination forms to contest the National Women Organiser position.
The NOEC said Bernard Antwi Boasiako formally withdrew his candidature, while Evans Kodom withdrew during the filing of Dennis Miracles Aboagye’s nomination.
Perpetual Ekua Lomokie Akwada, however, failed to submit her completed nomination documents before the filing deadline.
The development leaves Dennis Miracles Aboagye as the sole aspirant for the NPP National Communications Director position.
However, his emergence as the only candidate does not automatically make him the confirmed winner. He must first complete the vetting process and satisfy all the relevant requirements before he can be declared an unopposed candidate.
The development sets the stage for the next phase of the NPP elections 2026, with the vetting of all 47 aspirants scheduled to begin on Monday, August 31, and end on Thursday, September 3, 2026.
The Vetting Committee will be chaired by former Minister for Sanitation and Water Resources Cecilia Abena Dapaah.
Candidates contesting the positions of National Chairperson, General Secretary and National Treasurer are scheduled to appear before the committee on Monday.
Aspirants for the National Vice Chairperson positions will be vetted on Tuesday.
On Wednesday, the committee will vet candidates seeking the positions of National Organiser and National Youth Organiser.
Aspirants for the positions of National Communications Director, National Nasara Organiser, and National Women Organiser will appear before the committee on Thursday.
The vetting process is a key stage in the NPP elections 2026 as the party moves closer to electing its next crop of national officers.
The NOEC has reiterated its commitment to conducting an orderly, fair, transparent and credible NPP national election.
The committee has also appealed to all aspirants, their supporters and party stakeholders to conduct themselves responsibly throughout the electoral process.
According to the committee, responsible conduct will be essential to preserving unity and strengthening confidence in the NPP elections.
The 2026 NPP national elections are expected to determine the party’s next national leadership team as the opposition party prepares for a new phase of political organisation, mobilisation and grassroots engagement.
With 47 aspirants now set to undergo vetting, attention will turn to the eligibility of the candidates and the eventual ballot arrangements for the various national executive positions.
