Ghana international Antoine Semenyo has been nominated for the CAF Men’s Player of the Year award following an outstanding season for club and country.

The former Bristol City forward is among 10 players shortlisted for the prestigious individual honour, which recognises the overall best footballer in African football.

Semenyo’s nomination follows his impressive performances for AFC Bournemouth and Manchester City during the 2025/2026 season.

However, the Ghanaian faces stiff competition for the award, with several established African stars also making the shortlist. They include Ivorian star Amad Diallo and Moroccan trio of Achraf Hakimi, Ismael Saibari and Brahim Diaz.

Other nominees are DR Congo’s Yoane Wissa, South Africa midfielder Teboho Mokoena and Senegal trio of Ismaila Sarr, Pape Gueye and Sadio Mane.

The enterprising attacker enjoyed an excellent first half of the 2025/2026 campaign at Bournemouth before switching to Manchester City in January 2026.

The 26-year-old has continued to impress since joining the English giants, scoring 13 goals in 35 appearances, including the winning goal in last season’s FA Cup final.

Antoine Semenyo also made history last season by becoming the first Ghanaian footballer to earn a place in the Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA) Premier League Team of the Year.

Besides, the former Bournemouth and Bristol City forward played an important role for the Black Stars at the 2026 FIFA World Cup in North America, helping Ghana reach the knockout stage for the first time since 2010.

He will now hope his impressive club performances and contribution to Ghana’s World Cup campaign will be enough to earn him the prestigious continental accolade.

The 2026 CAF Awards are scheduled for Monday, December 7, 2026, and will recognise outstanding achievements across African football during the eligibility period.

Semenyo, who is currently sidelined through injury, has registered two goals and three assists in eight appearances across all competitions for Manchester City this season.
