Alfred Agbesi Woyome, a businessman and member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has officially filed his nomination to contest the party’s National Vice Chairperson position ahead of its December 2026 National Delegates Congress.

Former Deputy National Women’s Organiser of the NDC, Dr Catherine Deynu, submitted the nomination and indicated that Mr Woyome is seeking the position to strengthen the party’s organisational structures and improve its capacity ahead of future elections.

According to Dr Deynu, his ambition is centred on empowering party members, particularly those at the grassroots and constituency levels, to consolidate the NDC’s electoral fortunes.

She argued that Mr Agbesi Woyome’s longstanding contributions to the party have equipped him with the experience and commitment needed to play a more influential role in strengthening its internal structures.

“Many people can attest to these facts. He has done a lot for the party, and this is the time for him to be at the helm of affairs to ensure that our grassroots members are empowered and that those at the constituency level have their capacity built,” she told Citi FM.

“He can also help build a strong party that will sustain electoral victories for years to come,” she added.

The NDC is expected to elect its next batch of national executives at its National Delegates Congress on Saturday, December 19, 2026, as part of its ongoing reorganisation ahead of the 2028 general elections.

The contest for national executive positions is expected to shape the party’s leadership direction and organisational strategy as it prepares for another electoral cycle.

Dr Deynu disclosed that Mr Woyome’s vision for the NDC includes prioritising sustainable job creation as part of broader efforts to improve the livelihoods of party members and strengthen the party’s organisational capacity.

She maintained that empowering members and investing in constituency-level structures would be essential to sustaining the party’s political strength and securing future electoral victories.
