New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has urged the party’s new regional executives to prioritise unity and renewed energy as the party begins preparations for the 2028 general elections.
Dr Bawumia congratulated the newly elected regional executives following the successful conduct of the party’s regional executive elections across the country on Saturday, August 15, 2026.
In a statement issued by his office, the former Vice President commended delegates, candidates and party members for the peaceful conduct of the elections.

The process, he said, reaffirms the NPP’s commitment to internal democracy and respect for the will of its members.
Dr Bawumia expressed confidence that the newly elected regional executives would provide the leadership needed to strengthen the party and position it for victory in the 2028 presidential and parliamentary elections.
The NPP flagbearer also commended all candidates who contested the various regional executive positions for offering themselves to serve the party.
He urged candidates who were unsuccessful to put the election behind them and rally behind the newly elected executives to help strengthen the party.
According to Dr Bawumia, the conclusion of the regional elections should now give way to a renewed focus on rebuilding the NPP and preparing for the next general election.
“The regional contest is over, the greater task is unity and renewed energy to secure victory in 2028, and it begins now,” he said.
His call comes as the NPP continues its internal reorganisation following the election of new regional executives across the country.
The newly elected executives are expected to work with constituency and grassroots structures to strengthen the party’s mobilisation and organisational capacity ahead of the 2028 presidential and parliamentary elections.
