Newly elected Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Odeneho Kwaku Appiah, popularly known as COKA, has urged constituency vice-chairpersons across the region to return to the party’s core values of discipline, integrity, responsibility and hard work.
Mr Appiah made the call during an engagement with constituency executives in Kumasi as he begins efforts to strengthen the NPP’s grassroots structures and rebuild confidence among supporters ahead of the 2028 general elections.
According to the Ashanti Regional Chairman, the NPP’s historical appeal to Ghanaians and its previous electoral successes were built largely on the certain core values that defined the party’s identity.

“I am urging all of us to go back to our roots and core values, where we exemplified the ideals of discipline, integrity, responsibility and hard work,” he said.
Mr Appiah said the NPP must prioritise reconciliation, rebuild its organisational structures and intensify grassroots mobilisation if the party is to regain political strength ahead of the 2028 elections.
He noted that the party lost more than 1.1 million votes in the Ashanti Region during the 2024 general elections, attributing much of the decline to low voter turnout rather than a complete shift in political allegiance.
He therefore urged constituency vice-chairpersons to work closely with their chairpersons and other local executives to reconnect with supporters and strengthen the party at the grassroots.
The Ashanti Regional Chairman said the ongoing engagements were aimed at reaching out to disillusioned supporters and creating the conditions necessary to position the NPP’s 2028 presidential candidate, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, for victory.
Responding on behalf of the constituency executives, Mampong Constituency Vice-Chairperson S. O. Frimpong commended Mr Appiah for what he described as his proactive approach to post-election reconciliation.
Mr Frimpong said Mr Appiah’s decision to engage his main electoral opponent and other defeated aspirants demonstrated a commitment to building an inclusive administration.
He maintained that such efforts were important to strengthening party cohesion and restoring confidence among NPP supporters across the Ashanti Region.
Following his engagement with constituency executives, Mr Appiah also received courtesy calls from various stakeholder groups at his temporary office in Kumasi.
The groups included representatives of major market associations, the NPP Loyal Ladies campaign wing and radio morning show hosts from across the metropolis.
The groups congratulated Mr Appiah on his election and urged him to implement the strategic vision he outlined during his campaign for the regional chairmanship.
In response, Mr Appiah reiterated the need for sustained collaboration among party stakeholders to strengthen the NPP’s position in the Ashanti Region.
He said rebuilding the party would require unity, discipline, effective grassroots organisation and collective commitment from constituency and regional executives.
