The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Fulani Coordinating Team has successfully concluded the first phase of its nationwide tour, wrapping up in the Ahafo Region on Saturday.
The team visited eight regions in the northern sector to engage Fulani communities and share the party’s vision and the plans of its flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama, ahead of the 2024 elections.
The tour covered the Savannah, Northern, North East, Upper East, Upper West, Bono East, Bono, and Ahafo Regions, areas with significant Fulani populations.
Throughout the outreach, the team engaged with 84 constituencies and 209 Fulani-dominated communities, addressing key development and welfare issues.
Communities Highlight Pressing Challenges
During the engagements, Fulani chiefs and opinion leaders stressed several pressing issues, including challenges in obtaining Ghana Cards for identification and registration, lack of access to clean drinking water, insufficient dams for livestock, poor educational infrastructure in their communities and lack of clinics and CHPS compounds to address healthcare needs.
The NDC assured the communities of its unwavering commitment to addressing these issues when voted into office, reinforcing the party’s focus on inclusive development and equity.
Next Steps in Outreach
The NDC Fulani Coordinating Team is set to begin the second phase of its engagements this weekend with visits to Bole Bamboi and Akumadan. The outreach will then shift to Greater Accra early next week, targeting Fulani-dominated constituencies such as Shai Osudoku, Ashaiman, Kpone Katamanso, Adenta, and Ningo Prampram.
Appreciation and Call to Action
The team expressed gratitude for the support and guidance provided by former President Mahama’s office and other stakeholders.
“We deeply appreciate the warm reception and active participation of Fulani leaders and communities throughout the tour,” the team emphasized.
With a strong resolve, the team reaffirmed its optimism for victory in the 2024 elections, vowing to champion the concerns of the Fulani people and deliver on promises made.
