The General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Fifi Kwetey, has asserted that the entire Ghana is the stronghold of the NDC.
He contrasted this with the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), which he claims relies heavily on support from just two regions.
He emphasized the NDC’s strategy to campaign across all regions to garner more votes, arguing that all parts of the country are suffering under the current administration.
Fifi Kwetey was speaking on Hot Issues on TV3 last Saturday, June 30.
He said, “We believe the whole country is our stronghold as against the NPP who are depending on two regions.
Addressing the recent announcement of Energy Minister and Manhyia South Lawmaker Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh as the running mate for NPP’s flagbearer Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Kwetey expressed confidence that the NDC is not concerned.
“NDC is not panicking because of Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh as running mate; he couldn’t even resolve the power situation,” Kwetey remarked.
Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia formally presented Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh as his running mate for the 2024 presidential election, following a meeting with President Akufo-Addo.
Bawumia plans to meet with the Council of Elders to formally inform them of his choice, with an official announcement expected soon.
The selection of Dr. Opoku Prempeh comes after a survey by the National Investigation Bureau indicated strong support for him as the running mate.
The survey, which engaged 5,116 NPP delegates nationwide, including national, regional, constituency, and polling station executives, showed that Dr. Opoku Prempeh secured 76.2% of the responses from executives polled.
