Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson has curtailed swirling rumours about a supposed freeze on public sector hiring.

Addressing widespread concerns over employment opportunities, he stressed that no recruitment freeze exists, easing fears among job seekers and public workers.

In an interview with Channel One TV on Wednesday, March 12, Dr. Ato Forson emphasized that the government is actively working to bolster employment, particularly for young Ghanaians, while ensuring that key industries like health and education remain well-staffed.

“Recruitment will proceed in line with our economic priorities,” he assured and signalled a commitment to maintaining vital public services.

The minister’s comments follow growing uncertainty about the government’s hiring stance, with many speculating that fiscal constraints might limit new hires.

Dr. Ato Forson instead stressed job creation and improved working conditions as central pillars of the administration’s agenda.
