National Youth Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Salam Mustapha, has called for unity within the party, urging members not to exacerbate internal tensions following the fallout from the ongoing “Thank You” tour.

Speaking to Channel One Newsroom on Saturday, May 3, Mustapha emphasized that while disagreements within the party are natural, they must be handled with care to avoid further divisions.

His comments come amidst growing calls for a suspension of the “Thank You” trip after internal wrangling, including the withdrawal of Kennedy Agyapong, a former flagbearer aspirant.

“What I would rather ask is that we do not deepen the cracks. It is okay to disagree, but we should also mind the language,” Mustapha said, stressing the importance of maintaining decorum even amid differences.

Despite the controversy surrounding Agyapong’s pull-out, Mustapha remains optimistic that the visits will continue without disruption. He pointed out that the “Thank You” tour was progressing steadily, with recent events in the Bono East and Savannah regions running smoothly.

He dismissed claims that the party’s tour has descended into chaos, calling such assertions completely unfounded.

“Not at all [things have not become chaotic]. It cannot be chaotic. Not, it cannot be chaotic. It is not chaotic,” he insisted.

He emphasized that the tour is in line with the NPP’s long-standing traditions and has always been conducted in a structured and orderly fashion.

“On any account, at any material point in time, the NPP has done ‘Thank You’ tours—this is not new,” he said.
