Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, former Vice President and 2024 presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has called on his party to rise with open arms to chart a new course for election 2028.

He urged supporters to adopt a spirit of inclusivity and national unity as they begin their political revival.

Speaking in Hohoe on Thursday, May 8, during the NPP’s ongoing Thank You Tour, Dr. Bawumia urged the party faithful to rebuild bridges across regional, religious, and social divides, insisting that the party’s comeback must be anchored in embracing all Ghanaians.

He declared, “Our comeback requires having open arms to all. We must reach out to every Ghanaian, regardless of region, religion, or background, and prove that the NPP is a home for national progress, not narrow interests.”

Dr. Bawumia outlined a bold strategy to reshape the party’s grassroots engagement, proposing the creation of regional liaison committees to serve as direct links between communities and the party’s national leadership. These committees, he said, will ensure policy inclusiveness and responsive governance.

He also urged party members to double down on door-to-door mobilization, active listening, and building trust with the electorate—especially in regions where the NPP has struggled in the past.

He applauded the resilience of NPP supporters in the Volta Region and challenged them to lead the charge in carrying forward a renewed, inclusive agenda.

“With unity, humility and open arms, we will transform our setback into a powerful comeback,” Dr. Bawumia stressed, drawing a standing ovation from an energized crowd.
