Kwasi Kwarteng, former spokesperson for Kennedy Ohene Agyapong’s campaign team, has dismissed reports that the former Assin Central Member of Parliament has resigned from the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Kwarteng said Kennedy Agyapong is currently in China conducting business and has not submitted any resignation letter to the party.

In a social media post addressing the reports, he urged the public to disregard the claims.

“Hon. Ken Ohene Agyapong is currently in China conducting business. He’s not submitted any letter of resignation from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to anyone. Please disregard any such report,” Kwarteng wrote.

His comments come amid reports circulating on social media suggesting that the former MP had decided to leave the NPP, triggering speculation about his political future and the possible implications for the party.

The reports have generated mixed reactions among social media users, with some expressing sympathy for Kennedy Agyapong and others questioning what his alleged departure could mean for the opposition party.

One commenter suggested that the former presidential hopeful should have waited for another opportunity to contest the NPP flagbearer position.

“Wow Ohene, we understand your pain, but at least you should have waited for one last attempt,” the user wrote.

Others used the elephant, the NPP’s symbol, to express concern about the party’s situation.

“One leg of the elephant is broken,” another commenter said.

A separate reaction read: “What the elephant is being crippled. Oh no!”

Some social media users also speculated that Kennedy Agyapong could align with former NPP flagbearer hopeful Alan Kyerematen, popularly known as Alan Cash, who left the party and established the Movement for Change.

“He might be teaming up with Alan Ewuradi,” another commenter suggested.

Kwasi Kwarteng’s statement directly challenged the resignation claims, maintaining that Kennedy Agyapong has not formally communicated any decision to leave the NPP.
