A devastating road accident on the Accra-Kumasi road has claimed one life and left 14 others with serious injuries. The fatal crash occurred on Wednesday, August 12, near the popular Paradise Restaurant, involving a MAN Diesel truck and a Toyota Hiace minibus.
According to the Bunso Fire Station, emergency services received a distress call at approximately 7:30 p.m. A six-member rescue crew was immediately dispatched to the scene of the highway collision, arriving at 7:46 p.m. to find both vehicles severely damaged.

Preliminary eyewitness reports suggest that the MAN Diesel truck (registration number AS 4765-11) was traveling towards Accra when a Toyota Vitz allegedly attempted an improper overtaking maneuver. In a bid to avoid the Vitz, the truck swerved into the opposite lane, resulting in a direct side-impact collision with the Toyota Hiace (registration ER 655-25).
The violent impact caused partial damage to the front of the truck and extensive damage to the side of the Hiace. Emergency responders worked quickly to extract the victims and salvage personal belongings from the wreckage. A total of 14 individuals sustained injuries and received immediate medical attention at the scene. Unfortunately, a female passenger was pronounced dead at the scene due to the severity of her injuries.
Authorities have launched a full investigation into the traffic collision to determine the precise cause.
The Ghana Police Service and fire crews cleared the wreckage to restore traffic flow on the busy highway. The rescue operation concluded at 8:46 p.m., allowing vehicles to resume normal movement.
