President John Dramani Mahama has elevated seven (7) Justices of the Appeals Court to the Supreme Court. The appointments were made in accordance with Article 144 (2) of the 1992 Constitution of Ghana.
The nominated Justices are:
Justice Sir Dennis Dominic Adjei
Justice Gabriel Simon Suurbaareh
Justice Senyo Dzamefe
Justice Kweku Tawiah Ackaah-Boafo
Justice Philip Bright Mensah
Justice Janapare Bartels-Kodwo
Justice Hafisata Amaleboba
The nominations were communicated in an official statement by Dr. Callistus Mahama, Secretary to the President. Their curricula vitae have been submitted to facilitate the Council’s vetting and consideration.
The Presidency has expressed confidence in the Judicial Council’s prompt action. These appointments, when approved, are expected to strengthen the composition and capacity of Ghana’s apex court.
