The National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) has suspended three pharmacies for suspected fraudulent claims and irregular transactions.
The affected facilities—DELDEM PHARMA LIMITED, PARAMEDICA PHARMACY, and DESH CHEMIST—have been banned from providing NHIS services effective Thursday, May 14, following a routine claims verification exercise.
According to the NHIA, investigators uncovered “material irregularities” linked to these pharmacies, raising “reasonable suspicion of fraud and abuse” under the NHIS Provider Service Agreement.

NHIS members are advised to seek pharmaceutical care from other accredited providers nationwide until further notice.
In a statement, NHIA CEO Dr. Victor Asare Bampoe warned that fraudulent practices will not be tolerated. Offenders face up to 10 years in prison or a hefty fine upon summary conviction.
“The NHIA remains committed to transparency, accountability, and the prudent use of public funds,” Dr. Bampoe affirmed.
The suspension takes effect immediately and will remain in place pending further investigations.
